Mirno and UC Berkeley partner on US commercialisation research

Mirno are the makers of cutting-edge Virtual Medical Training technology. We are one of five companies from West Sweden selected by UC Berkley Deep Tech Innovation Lab. The Product Market Fit Assessment Spring 2025 program pairs multi-disciplinary groups of students from UC Berkeley, with exciting startup companies in Health Tech.

The purpose of this collaboration is to provide students at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, with access to real companies. Students will provide support and insights to help companies access the American market. The Deep Tech Lab has a policy of "Learning-by-doing", stating they provide:

"an interdisciplinary, real-world experience with cutting-edge projects, to solve complex challenges of deep tech innovation."

Cinemedic Launches at Gothenburg University

On January 27, Cinemedic Pro was put into operation for the first time at Sahlgrenska Academy, Gothenburg University.

Cinemedic Pro is the first product from Mirno. Cinemedic Pro puts Mirno's Virtual Patients onto a 4K multitouch display which appears as a digital hospital bed. Students and Clinicians may gather around the virtual patient to assess and treat them as required.

Nurses and Physicians simulating using Cinemedic Pro

Cinemedic Pro brings new capabilities to virtual medical simulation such as full physiological simulation of vitals, external symptoms, and dynamic consciousness. The solution supports effective communication and collaboration between multi-disciplinary team members without barriers, unlike pure VR products.

Together with educators from Gothenburg University, Mirno developed support for Hybrid Medical simulation. Combining the best aspects of Virtual and Live simulation with mannequins, Hybrid simulation allows prosthetics to be used in conjunction with Cinemedic Pro. The benefits of this type of simulation are that Nursing students may practice their tactile technical skills such as IV insertion, while student Physicians continue to monitor the virtual patient.

Hybrid Simulation at Gothenburg University with Cinemedic Pro. January 2025

Over the course of the next weeks, around 200 Nursing and Medical students at Gothenburg University will train using Cinemedic Pro. The insights from this training will guide the future development of Cinemedic, and Mirno's Virtual Patient technology.

At Mirno, our team are immensely grateful for the educators at GU who had the trust and vision to bring this emerging technology to their students. Although it took a great effort from our team to deliver, the opportunity to advance training made it impossible to pass up.

Mirno and Reykjavik University sign research collaboration agreement

Mirno and the The Institute of Biomedical and Neural Engineering (IBNE) at the University of Reykjavik have signed an agreement to collaborate on research and development in the field of Virtual Patients and Virtual healthcare training solutions.

Professor Paolo Gargiulo - Director of IBNE at Reykavik University signed this landmark agreement with Mirno. The agreement promises to share Mirno's Virtual Patient technology with the renowned research institution, and offers the possibility of cutting-edge imaging from the Institute of Biomedical and Neural Engineering to feature within Virtual Patient simulations for the first time.

Professor Paolo Gargiulo

This agreement is typical of IBNE which was established to coordinate large-scale, multi-disciplinary research initiatives between Reykjavik University, University of Iceland, Landspitali and MedTech companies.

IBNE Researchers led by Professor Gargiulo have been successfully utilising Virtual Reality Technology in novel ways to experience advanced 3D imaging.

Mirno developers have a strong track record in developing commercially-successful applications in VR and will use their experience to support efforts at IBNE.

Mirno are on a mission to develop innovative Virtual Patient technology. The inclusion of digitised imaging in future simulations promises to increase the clinical value of simulations featuring Virtual Patients.
